Change? Is It Time to Make a Change?

Change? Is it time for a change? Do you have that feeling in your gut that you are ready to do something different?
You can change. Yes, that is right. You can change your life personally or professionally.
Maybe, you have been at your current job for awhile and know that it is time for a change.
Are you thinking about starting your own business? Are you just not sure what that business is going to look like?

Been There Done That!

Well, if this sounds like where you are right now, I completely get it.  A few years ago, I was getting ready to retire from my first career.
I knew that it was time for me to move on and to try something different. However, I was not really sure what that different looked like.  Yet, I just knew that it was time for a change.
Before I retired, I started trying on different businesses to see what was the best fit for me. I knew that I wanted to work for myself and have flexible work hours. Now, I did not have a lot of cash to invest in a business. So, I knew that a franchise was not a possibility.
While I doing my research, I came across the suggestion of direct sales. I really had not even considered the direct selling industry.
Yet, the more I studied on the topic, the more it made sense for me and my situation.
Here I am several years later working in the direct selling and affiliate marketing industry. The decision was right for me  I love what I do.
If you are thinking about starting your own business, I would like to offer up some questions for you to ask yourself.

Questions to Ask Yourself?

The following questions are taken from the book, From Knocking On Doors to Making Millions: Top Strategies for Direct Sales Success by Elizabeth Demas.
Although this book was written for the direct selling industry, the wisdom found in it can be applied to any business.
  1. What do you want your business to provide for you personally?
  2. How much time and money are you willing to invest?
  3. How much are you willing to invest in learning?
  4. Are you open to asking for help when needed?

Is This for Me?

The final question to ask yourself  is “Is This for Me?” Being the excellent coach that she is, Demas takes it a step further with some statements for you to consider.
  1. Why do I want to own a business?  List those reasons.
  2. What  amount of dollars I am willing to invest to start my business? Write down the amount.
  3. What are my financial spending limit for trying new ways to my business? Again, list out of those limits.
  4. How many  hours a week am I working to work my business? What days can I work my business? Write down those days and times.
  5. Am I willing and open to learning? YES or NO.
  6. Can I  be  open to asking for outside help when needed? YES or NO.
  7. Is owning my own business right for me? YES or NO.
If you are in the midst of moving toward a change, grab yourself a pen and paper so that you can answer these questions and statements.
The answers should help you get started in the right direction toward starting your own business. So, that the change benefits you and your business.
I hope that you have found value in this writing. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments.
Best Wishes,
