Generating leads is the life blood of a business. Without a continuous flow of leads, a business does not grow and prosperous as it should. Eventually, the business dies.
As small business owners and independent consultants, our goal is to have a continuous flow of fresh leads. In the beginning, we approach our family, friends, and coworkers. At some point, we exhaust our warm market and move on to a cold market.
Traditionally, business owners have network with each other at face to face meetings. While this strategy is still very valuable, our reach is so much greater online than offline. A wise business owner prospects on and off line.
When generating leads, we should focus on three activities daily to grow our businesses. Every day we should build, engage, and sell to our target audience.
Building an audience should be an ongoing task. We should constantly look for meaningful way to build our potential client base through social media platforms, face to face networking events, and company sponsored workshops and conferences.
Engaging an audience is a must. The main objective is to interact with the target audience. Otherwise, the potential clients become bored and move on to greener pastures. We have to provide quality information about our products and services to this target audience. How can we meet their needs and solve their problem with what we have to offer them? This is the answer that the audience is wanting. So, give them what they want.
Of course, revenue is important! When we offer up a solution, we need to follow up with a call to action. At this point, we are ready to sell to our selected audience. The build, engage and sell approach keeps fresh leads rolling into a business.
